All medical disciplines in hospitals in Jiangsu Province, except for diseases of mouth, ear, nose, throat and ear, will gradually resume regular services for patients since February 24, according to a circular of Jiangsu Health Commission.

The commission requires all medical institutions to open the fever clinic, take temperature of all visitors including medics, and keep a detailed health record of fever patient.  Patient needs to make an appointment with valid ID and online clinical service is also recommended.

It also demands hospitals at all levels to guarantee medical service available to patients who need regular checks and treatment, such as pregnant women and those need dialysis. Hospitals are banned from suspending such regular service or rejecting a patient.  Rigorous management will be introduced at the waiting area for outpatients and only one patient is allowed in a sperate clinic room with a doctor at a time.

Patients with chronic diseases such as hypertension and diabetes will be allowed to get prescribed medicine for up to three months according to their health condition. Hospitals can also provide drug delivery service to patient’s home. Efforts will be increased to manage visitors and caregivers of inpatients, who are required to have at most one caregiver and need to remain in an award during the hospital stay.

Patient who is going to receive a surgery will receive free nucleic acids test for novel coronavirus, according to the regulation.
