On the afternoon of January 15, delegations to the 3rd session of the 12th Jiangsu People’s Congress, the provincial legislature, held plenary meetings to deliberate the government work report delivered by governor Wu Zhenglong.

Qi Jiabin, the secretary of the CPC Changzhou Committee, said it was very encouraging to hear the work report that summarized the achievements from seven aspects. The report also outlined work priorities from ten areas in this year, showing the clear direction ahead to realize the high-quality development of Jiangsu.

Many deputies have mentioned the same topic – implementing the new development philosophy and pursuing a quality-orientated growth. Feng Xingzhen, chairman of Xuzhou Coal Mining Group, said the group will align its development with the new philosophy, safeguard the energy safety of Jiangsu, make new progress in facilitating the regional integrated development, and help the province to meet targets outlined in the 13th Five-Year Plan (2016-2020) this year.

Lianyungang mayor Fang Wei said, starting from a high political stance and in line with the actual situation, the provincial government work report is logical, organized and also supported by specific, feasible measures to meet the needs of local development. The report has also recognized the achievements, such as the establishment of the China (Jiangsu) Pilot Free Trade Zone and Lianyungang’s plan to develop itself into a key hub of the Belt and Road initiative.

For Wang Zichun, chairman of Jiangsu Dongqiang Co., Ltd., he has noticed the report’s calling for enterprises to play a main role in achieving technology innovation.

"In the new year, we will aim at the frontier science and technology to develop high-end products, seize development opportunities to fully tap the market, increase efforts for talent development, and make contribution to turn Jiangsu to be strong, prosperous, beautiful and civilized,” said Wang.
