Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi on Wednesday slammed U.S. House of Representatives Speaker Nancy Pelosi's visit to Taiwan region, calling it an "open political provocation" that jeopardizes China's sovereignty.
"This again proves that some U.S. politicians have become the 'troublemakers' of China-U.S. relations and the U.S. has become the No. 1 'saboteur' of the peace and stability of the Taiwan Strait," Wang said in a statement released on Wednesday after Pelosi landed in China's Taiwan on Tuesday.
The Chinese diplomat urged Washington not to obstruct China's great reunification, development and revitalization, lashing out at America for "manipulating the game of geopolitics."
He also warned the U.S. to "stop arbitrarily confusing right and wrong," stressing the fact that Taiwan is an inseparable part of China.
"The true 'fence' of peaceful coexistence between China and the U.S. is the three China-U.S. joint communiques. 'Seeking independence via the U.S.' is a path that leads nowhere," Wang said, pointing out the Chinese people's courage and strong will in defending the country's sovereignty and national pride.

U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi openly ignores China's stern opposition to visiting Taiwan. This move seriously violates the one-China principle and seriously harms China's sovereignty. The open political provocation has aroused the fury of the Chinese people, and is opposed by the whole international community. This again proves that some U.S. politicians have become the "troublemakers" of China-U.S. relations and the U.S. has become the No. 1 "saboteur" of the peace and stability of the Taiwan Strait.
The U.S. must stop obstructing China's great reunification. Taiwan is an inalienable part of China. China's full reunification is unstoppable and inevitable. China never allows any room for "Taiwan independence" separatist forces and the interference of external forces. No matter what means the U.S. takes to support "Taiwan independence" forces, it will prove to be all in vain, leaving only ugly evidence of the U.S.'s rough interference in other country's internal affairs. The Taiwan question began when China was in a weak and troubled condition and will end with China's national rejuvenation.
The U.S. must stop obstructing China's development and revitalization. China has found a correct development path which is in line with its national conditions. Under the leadership of the Communist Party of China, 1.4 billion Chinese people are striving towards modernization with Chinese characteristics. China stresses reliance on our own efforts to drive the nation's development, and is willing to coexist peacefully with other countries to seek common development. It will never allow any country to obstruct China's stability and development. The U.S. provokes China over the Taiwan question, attempts to delay China's development, and obstruct China's peaceful rise. All of these acts are futile and will eventually hurt the U.S. itself.
The U.S. must stop manipulating the game of geopolitics. The pursuit of peace, stability, development, and mutual benefit is the common aspiration of countries in the region. The U.S.'s incorporation of the Taiwan question into its regional strategy has increased tensions and fueled antagonism. This is going against the tide of regional development, and opposite to the expectations of people in the Asia-Pacific region. It is very dangerous and foolish. The one-China principle has become a basic norm of international relations, a component of the post-World War Two international order. What the U.S. should do is immediately cease violating the purpose and the principle of the United Nations Charter, and stop playing the "Taiwan card" to destabilize the Asia-Pacific region.
The U.S. must stop arbitrarily confusing right and wrong. The U.S. claims China is escalating the situation, but the most basic fact is that the U.S. provoked China regarding the Taiwan question, openly trespassing on China's sovereignty and territorial integrity. The U.S. claims there was precedence for the speaker of the House to visit Taiwan, but the most basic truth is that past mistakes cannot become today's excuses for repeating them. The U.S. claims its tripartite separation of powers doesn't allow it to restrain the behavior of Congress, but the most basic norm of international law is that the U.S. must fulfill its international obligations. Major political figures in particular should not act recklessly. The U.S. claims China's pursuit of reunification is a "threat" to Taiwan, but the most basic logic is that Taiwan is an inalienable part of China. The Taiwan question is entirely China's internal affair. China's protect for territorial integrity and its opposition to secession is legitimate, reasonable and perfectly justified.
China wants to emphasize that the key to maintaining the peace and stability of the Taiwan Strait is the one-China principle. The true "fence" of peaceful coexistence between China and the U.S. is the three China-U.S. joint communiques. "Seeking independence via the U.S." is a path that leads nowhere. "Using Taiwan to contain China" is doomed to fail. When faced with the overall national interest of reunification, Chinese people have enough courage not to believe in heresy or be afraid. They have the spirit not to be scared or crushed. They have the resolve to be united and work as one. And they are even more competent in resolutely defending China's sovereignty and national pride.
