Wang Shulin, the general manager of China Jiangsu International Economic Technical Corporation Zambia Limited (CJI Zambia ), has lived in the African country for more than ten years, playing an important role in the company’s development from frontline projects to comprehensive management tasks.
Wang is most proud of the Kenneth Kaunda International Conference Center built by the company to host the African Union (AU) mid-year summit. With a floor area of 24,000 square meters, the center boasts a main hall having a 2,500 sitting capacity, a multifunctional hall with a 1,000 sitting capacity, and other facilities.
The modern center financed by China will help Zambia deepen international exchanges and cooperation and also enhance its roles in regional affairs. Zambia commissioned the center on May 31 and then hosted the AU mid-year summit from July 14 to 17.
Wang said the success of the conference centre fully reflects the efficiency of China's construction and domestic and international cooperation."
In addition to the flagship project, the company has donated to build roads in neighboring villages, helped set up simple police outposts, sponsored children's athletics for 11 consecutive years, and provided job opportunities for locals. These efforts have supported the local economic and social development.
Because of the busy work, Wang usually has very limited time spending with his family. Due to the COVID-19 outbreaks, it’s even harder for him to return to China. He said he will continue to work hard for the progress and play his role well in the African country.
