Carrying more than 7,000 new energy vehicles bound for Itajai Port in Brazil, the BYD Shenzhen, the world's largest car carrier, embarked on its maiden voyage from the Taicang Port area of Suzhou Port on April 27.
Built by a shipyard under China Merchants Group in Yizheng, the LNG dual-fuel vessel is BYD's fourth specialized vessel for NEVs transportation.
Since the beginning of this year, 75 car carriers have departed from Taicang Port for 14 countries and regions worldwide. In the first quarter, the port processed 58,500 vehicles bound for countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative, an increase of 3.06% year-on-year.
