The Department of Culture and Tourism of Jiangsu Province held the first onsite session of its Happy Spring Festival 2024 program from January 4 to 7 in Nagoya, Japan.
Featuring the province’s abundant and unique waterscapes, the program included a concert by the Suzhou Chinese Orchestra, which also performed at the Spring Festival gala organized by the Chinese Consulate General in the city as well as a public show for the Chinese community and Japanese residents.
The Lunar New Year, or Spring Festival, is the most important traditional festival in China. In December last year, it was officially listed as a UN floating holiday in its calendar of conferences and meetings as from 2024.
Nagoya has a traditional of celebrating the Lunar New Year for 18 years. It is the earliest, largest and most influential of its kind in Japan.
