Jiangsu’s box office revenue sets record during Qingming Festival holiday

Jiangsu’s box office revenue during the Qingming Festival holiday from April 4 to 6 reached over 80.98 million yuan, surpassing the same period in 2021 and setting a new holiday record.

The province saw over 2.058 million moviegoers during the period, accounting for 9.77% of the national total.

Among the cities, Suzhou and Nanjing were ranked 9th and 11th nationwide in box office revenues, with earnings of 16.93 million yuan and 15.53 million yuan, respectively. Additionally, all 13 cities in the province with subordinate districts were listed among the top 80 cities nationwide.

Hayao Miyazaki's acclaimed animated fantasy, "The Boy and the Heron," topped the holiday revenue chart in Jiangsu, bringing in 35 million yuan. The 83-year-old's semi-autobiographical film reflects on the themes of motherhood and friendship. "Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire" claimed the second spot.
