On the evening of September 16, the Suzhou Ballet Theatre performed “Essences of China” at the Victoria Theater in Barcelona. This event marked the beginning of global tours of three entities under Suzhou Cultural Investment, which also includes the Suzhou National Orchestra and the Suzhou Symphony Orchestra.
Suzhou Ballet Theatre is the first Chinese ballet company to perform in Spain. An audience member named Juan was impressed by the beautiful costumes of the performers.
Hu Aimin, Acting Consul General of China in Barcelona, said that the performance will further promote cultural and artistic exchange and cooperation between China and Spain.
Following Barcelona, additional performances and cultural exchange activities are slated for Constantine and Alger in Algeria.
In total, the three units from Suzhou Cultural Investment are set to visit 11 cities across five countries and are planning 15 performances to showcase the unique Jiangnan culture.
From September 21 to October 8, the Suzhou National Orchestra will tour Austria, Germany and Slovenia. Meanwhile, the Suzhou Symphony Orchestra is scheduled to perform in Algeria in October, including cooperation with the country’s own orchestra.
