Yangzhou China Grand Canal Museum to open on June 16

The Yangzhou China Grand Canal Museum will open on June 16, providing a great destination for an immersive experience of the ancient waterway, also recognized as a UNESCO world heritage.

It will be China’s first modern canal-themed museum with comprehensive functions of conservation, research, exhibition, and public education all in one.

Located in the Sanwan Park, it covers an area of 13 hectares and has a floor space of around 80,000 square meters, divided into five parts to showcase the canal’s history and culture over thousands of years.

The museum has collected more than 10,000 pieces or sets of historical documents, paintings, calligraphy works, inscriptions, ceramics and metalware all related to the transportation artery in ancient China.
