The 24th Xuyi International Crayfish Festival kicked off on June 12 and will continue until mid-August, featuring a range of activities centered on the speciality of Xuyi County, Huaian City.

Xuyi’s crayfish has been ranked as the top national geographical indication product in the local aquatic category for nine consecutive years. According to a report issued by the Freshwater Fisheries Research Center (FFRC) of the Chinese Academy of Fishery Sciences (CAFS), the total output value of Xuyi’s crayfish industry has reached 30.6 billion yuan.

Crayfish plays an important part in the economic development of Xuyi County. To boost its high-quality development, the county has launched major projects across the entire crayfish industry chain, including the construction of a trading center, themed hotels, smart cold storage facilities, and an e-commerce industrial park.
