Yixing Customs House under Nanjing Customs District supported the first export of 300 kg of quality peaches from the city to Thailand.
The well-known shui mi tao, "water honey peaches," is a signature seasonal produce from Yixing and requires extra efforts to maintain the freshness, said Chu Shengfeng, general manager of Huijin Agricultural Development Co Ltd, an exporter of the fruits.
It takes as short as 48 hours from harvesting to packaging and delivery to Thailand, according to Chu.
To enhance the market reputation of the juicy peaches, Yixing Customs has introduced tailored services to help exporters speed up procedures, such as getting the certificate of origin and customs clearance. Efforts were also made to keep a close eye on the peach’s export information and ensure the scientific sampling and testing before issuing the phytosanitary certificate.
In addition, Yixing Customs also helped companies establish a sound quality management system that covers all stages of farming and ensure the compliance with standardized operations too.
