Yixing Environment Protection Technology Industry Park estimated its gross ecosystem product (GEP) reached 27.29 billion yuan in 2020.

It became China’s first industrial park to release a report of GEP, which shows the total value of final ecosystem goods and services supplied to human wellbeing in a region annually. The park is also the only high-tech zone in the country to specialize in environment protection technology.

The Academy of Environmental Planning & Design Co Ltd of Nanjing University provided the technical support to make the GEP report that showed the values of ecosystem goods, regulating services and cultural services, accounting for 9.4%, 84.7% and 5.9%, respectively. Thanks to its unique natural resources, the GEP reached 127 million yuan per square kilometer, one of top performers in China.

The report also shows that the ratio of GEP to GDP in the park in 2020 stood at 0.77, which indicates a higher degree of urbanization and a sound industrial base.
