500 students convene at Nanjing Tech University for summer program

Approximately 500 students from China and abroad have gathered at Nanjing Tech University to celebrate the completion of the 2024 Discover Jiangsu International Summer Program, as well as the province’s initiative to enhance civil engineering through digital and intelligent technologies.

The 14-day program attracted 50 Master’s students from overseas and 439 Master’s students, PhD students, and undergraduates from 32 universities across China. It featured academic and Chinese cultural modules, delivered through lectures, seminars and field visits, and also focused on enhancing exchanges between Chinese and foreign students.

To foster better understanding among participates, the program kicked off with an evening party and included traditional Chinese game Pitch-pot, Chinese calligraphy, paper cutting, and lacquer fan-making. These activities allowed international students to experience the charm of Chinese culture.

A second-year Master’s student from the Asian Institute of Technology described the program as exceeding his expectations. He said visits to various sites, including the Presidential Palace, the Oriental Metropolitan Museum, Confucius Temple and the Gaochun Ceramics Museum, helped him explore the historical and cultural heritage of Jiangsu. He expressed his intention to share the scenery and stories of China with his friends in Thailand.
