Jiangsu has recently announced its implementation guideline to deepen the development and reform of the modern vocational education system.
With eight key tasks, the province seeks to promote the integration of vocational and general education and deepen the integration of vocational education with industries. This approach aims to foster a modern vocational education system that caters to market needs, industrial structures and regional conditions, with the goal to become a powerhouse of talent.
Leveraging the existing resources of vocational colleges, Jiangsu’s Department of Education plans to establish about 50 modern industrial colleges, 30 vocational education-industry integration centers and 50 high-level specialized practice bases.
Cao Yumei, deputy director of the department, said Jiangsu will be committed to advancing the steady development of five-year higher vocational education and further promoting the reform and innovation of talent training. Professional and technical personnel from enterprises and public institutions will be selected for the talent training in vocational education.
To support high-quality economic development, the vocational education system will focus on the advanced manufacturing, the modern service industry and modern agriculture.
Meanwhile, the province’s Development and Reform Commission will increase assistance and coordinate financial resources for vocational education projects.
