Digital technology has been increasingly applied to improve the visiting experience during the National Day holiday in Jiangsu Province

It makes creative combination of technology, art and history in the trip to help visitors fully embrace the charm of the city’s iconic river. For example, designs like water curtain, special light effects, live shows and theatrical scenery aim to bring back the past glories of the ancient Qinhuai River.

Tiger Hill, a tourist destination in Suzhou, opened immersive night tours during the holiday, allowing visitors to enjoy the drone show, live performance, 3D light show and other engaging programs.

In Nanjing, the city’s Dabaoen Temple provided VR headsets for tourists to experience the charm of national treasures in 360 degrees. People can also scan a QR code to view the Porcelain Tower renovated with AR.

Professor Ge Junlian at School of Geography, Nanjing Normal University said tourists are in great need of products and services that integrate online and offline, a trend that will only promote digital transformation of culture and tourism industries.
