East China’s Jiangsu Province will build many new bridges and expressways to improve its transport network during the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-2025), according to the province’s Department of Transport.
In the next five years, the province will complete the building of six passages over the Yangtze River and kick off the construction of five new such passages to facilitate cross-river travel and logistics. Jiangsu will also speed up the connection from provincial highway 356 and national highway 346 to these river-crossing passages.
The province plans to add highways about 600 kilometers long by 2025, increasing the total length of highways to 5,500 kilometers. More than 450 kilometers of expressway will be expanded. Renovation is also planned to cover provincial and national highways with a total length of 2,200 kilometers. In addition, the province will renovate and build new rural roads of 14,000 kilometers long.
By 2025, more than 90% of the province’s counties will be linked by high-speed railway stations within 30 minutes.
