Nanjing has opened 46 disinfection sites for taxis in the fight against COVID-19, providing service to 2,000 cabs and 15,000 ride-hailing cars, said Zheng Chunfa, deputy director of Nanjing Transport Bureau, at a press conference on August 1.
Zheng said each disinfection site is equipped with sufficient supplies and standardized procedures. Drivers found to have abnormal health QR code or body temperatures in the checks will be required to stay in the car until a formal response by health authorities. Vehicles disinfected at these sites will also recorded daily so passengers will feel more assured in travelling.
The city’s law enforcement department has sent 20 units to ensure that the taxis undergo disinfection every day and comply with other requirements. For example, the taxi driver can refuse a passenger whose health QR is not green.
