German airline Lufthansa has resumed its flight service between Nanjing Lukou International Airport and Frankfurt Airport after five months of suspension due to the coronavirus outbreak.

At 11:07 am on July 7, Lufthansa flight LH780 carrying 260 passengers from Frankfurt landed in Nanjing, and on the next day 266 passengers aboard flight LH781 headed for the city in Germany.

This was the first round-trip passenger flight from Europe to Nanjing since the COVID-19 pandemic and the second Sino-German route resumed by Lufthansa.

Lufthansa will temporarily fly with Boeing 747-8 only once a week between the two cities, arriving in Nanjing at 11:05 am on Tuesday and departing the city at 1:10 pm on Wednesday.

The Civil Aviation Administration of China has approved several international flights at Nanjing Lukou International Airport including the Saturday flight to Milan by Neos Air starting from July 6, the Monday flight to Manila by Air Philippines starting from July 6, and the Sunday flight to Seoul by Asiana Airlines starting from July 12.
