The total value of Jiangsu's imports and exports reached 2.81 trillion yuan in the first half of the year, up 5.2% year-on-year, 2.3 percentage points higher than the national growth rate, according to Nanjing Customs.
Jiangsu’s foreign trade accounted for 12.9% of China’s total during the same period. The coastal province's exports reached 1.88 trillion yuan, up 9.4%, while imports stood at 933.93 billion yuan, down 2.4%.
Foreign-invested companies in Jiangsu recorded 1.32 trillion yuan in the imports and exports, a 5.8% increase, accounting for 46.9% of the provincial total. Private enterprises contributed 1.25 trillion yuan, up 2.5%, while state-owned enterprises posted 241.35 billion yuan, a rise of 16.8%.
Exports of mechanical and electrical products rose 10.4% year-on-year to 1.3 trillion yuan. Among them, exports of computers and parts, electrical apparatus, and ships increased by 0.3%, 19% and 27.6% respectively.
