Jiangsu Province's exports to the five Central Asian countries totaled 8.9 billion yuan from January to May this year, marking a 21.4% year-on-year increase, according to data from Nanjing Customs.
Recently, a China-Europe freight train fully loaded with goods departed from the China-Kazakhstan (Lianyungang) Logistics Cooperation Base, a landmark project launched under the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), bound for Kazakhstan and other Central Asian nations via Horgos Port, a major railway hub in Northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region.
Kong Xiangwei, Deputy General Manager of the Lianyungang China-Kazakhstan International Logistics Co., Ltd., said that the logistics cooperation base successfully launched a fertilizer transportation route this year, further supporting the agricultural needs of BRI partner countries.
Local customs authorities have also implemented measures to streamline international trade. "We are leveraging digital technologies to enable paperless customs transit operations," said Liu Guiming, head of Logistics Management at Lianyungang Customs.
