Jiangsu achieved stable economic development in the first half of the year, with Suzhou, Nanjing and Wuxi continuing to be the province’s economic powerhouses.
Suzhou topped the provincial list with a GDP of 1.2 trillion yuan, representing a year-on-year growth of 6.2%. The GDP of Nanjing and Wuxi reached 860.7 billion yuan and 743.7 billion yuan, respectively, marking year-on-year growths of 4.4% and 5.9%.
Among the notable developments in Suzhou, the output value of the high-tech manufacturing sector increased by 10% year-on-year, and the total amount of imports and exports increased by 9.2% year-on-year. The city’s exports accounted for 6.3% of the national total and 44.3% of provincial total.
Nantong was the fourth city with a GDP of over 500 billion yuan in the first half of the year in Jiangsu, ranking fourth provincewide, while Changzhou ranked fifth.
In terms of economic growth, Huai’an and Xuzhou secured the second and third places after Suqian's growth of 7.3%.
