The Shanghai-Nanjing high-speed railway along the Yangtze River reached the targeted test speed of 385 km per hour on July 3.
According to China Railway Shanghai Bureau Group, the new line has a design speed of 350 km per hour, and during testing, it reached the maximum speed of 110% of the design speed, which is 385 km per hour.
Following the completion of the speed testing, the line plans to proceed with the signal system testing in preparation for the scheduled opening in September.
The new line starts from Nanjing South Station and passes through Zhenjiang City, Changzhou City, Wuxi City, and Suzhou City before reaching Taicang Station, where it connects to Shanghai. It has eight stations and a total length of 279 kilometers.
The high-speed railway line will enhance transport network between southern Jiangsu and Shanghai, promoting the economic and social development of the region.
