Jiangsu Provincial Bureau of Statistics released new figures of the province’s economic performance in the first quarter of the year yesterday.
The gross domestic product (GDP) of Jiangsu grew by 4.7% year-on-year, compared to last year’s 2.9 trillion yuan.
The added values of the primary, secondary and tertiary industries reached 634.4 billion yuan, 1.257 trillion yuan and 1.619 trillion yuan, up 3.0%, 4.5% and 5.0%, respectively.
In the first quarter, the total output value of agriculture, forestry, animal husbandry and fishery hit 123.38 billion yuan, an increase of 3.4%. Meanwhile, Jiangsu’s agricultural supplies were relatively adequate with a steady increase of the planting area of summer grains.
In the first quarter, the added value of industry above the designated size increased by 5.5% year-on-year.
Jiangsu’s total retail sales of consumer goods reached 1.176 trillion yuan, a year-on-year growth of 7.8%. This included the retail sales of goods at 1.05 trillion yuan, up 7.0%, and the catering sector at 118.36 billion yuan, up 16.2%.
Over the period, fixed-asset investment in Jiangsu expanded by 5% year-on-year.
In the first quarter, the province’s per capita disposable income of residents was 17,183 yuan, up 4.2% year-on-year.
