The Green Sustainable Development Conference (2022) was held in Taicang City from December 10 to 11 alongside with the China-EU High-level Forum on Sustainable Development.
Co-organized by the Chinese People's Institute of Foreign Affairs and the China Society of Industrial Economics, the conference aimed to promote the implementation of the China-EU green and digital partnerships.
Participants included guests from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), the German Federal Foreign Office, the French Constitutional Council, COP 21, the European Commission, and the European Climate Foundation.
At the conference, the MIIT Center for International Economic and Technological Cooperation (CIETC), the province's Department of Industry and Information Technology, the International Cooperation Center of the Sino-Nordic Promotion Association for Green Sustainable Development (SNPA), and the Suzhou Municipal Government signed a strategic agreement to explore a green development model that is both in line with Chinese path to modernization and shared by China and Europe. This model will feature the coordinated green transformation and digitalization.
The MIIT-CIETC, the SNPA International Business Hub and the Taicang Municipal Government also signed a trilateral agreement to jointly build the China-Europe (Taicang) Green and Digital Innovation Cooperation Zone, which will pilot projects for carbon neutrality.
The conference also saw the signing of projects under the China-EU carbon neutrality cooperation framework, the release of an annual report on green and low-carbon industrial cooperation, and the launch of the Earth Aspiration Action Initiative by more than 40 organizations.
