Nantong in Jiangsu Province and Boryeong in South Chungcheong Province, South Korea held a video meeting on hydrogen industry on November 10.
As one of the first regions in China involved in the hydrogen energy sector, Nantong is home to more than 20 hydrogen-related enterprises including Bing Energy, Nantong Angstrom Renewable and XecaTurbo. Rugao in Nantong was also recognized as the 1st UNDP-China Hydrogen Economy Pilot.
Jiangsu has formed a relatively full-fledged industry chain covering hydrogen production and storage, vehicle manufacturing, and construction and operation of hydrogen refuelling station. The province has also established R&D organizations and institutions to boost collaborative innovation.
South Chungcheong also has a vibrant hydrogen industry and is home to world's first hydrogen fuel cell power plant that generates electricity using waste hydrogen. The Korean province has leading enterprises including Hanwha Energy, Hyundai Motor and SK.
Nantong has entered into sister-city relations with Gimje, Geoje and Changwon in South Korea, and opened flights to Incheon, Seoul and Jeju Island. It has 381 Korean enterprises and achieved the actual use of investment worth about 1.45 billion from the country.
