Taicang port handled 5.17 million TEUs in the period from January to August this year, up 16.1% year-on-year, reaching a record high.
The number of TEUs for foreign trade and domestic trade was 3.006 million and 2.164 million, up 25.9% and 4.8% year-on-year respectively.
In the eight months, cargo throughput at the port increased by 9.2% to 172.53 million tonnes, with steady growths in the transportation of coal, oil, chemical materials and metal ores.
