Lianyungang in East China’s Jiangsu Province launched first freight train service to Moscow on November 23.
The China-Europe freight train carried 100 TEUs of export goods, including tyres, lamps, sockets and other small commodities produced in Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Shanghai.
After leaving the China-Kazakhstan logistics base in the city, the train will reach a station in Moscow in 20 days via the border port of Erenhot in North China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region.
This marked the second new freight train service opened this year, following the debut of the cargo transportation linking Poland.
The China-Kazakhstan logistics base, the first physical platform under the Belt and Road initiative, opened in 2014 and has made rapid progress on the principle of opening up, cooperation, joint contribution, and shared benefits. Freight trains from the base now directly link five Central Asian countries, Mongolia, West Asia, Europe and other countries and regions via several border ports in China.
