The 5th Future Network Development Conference opened in Nanjing on June 17, and the Purple Mountain Laboratories (PML) based in the eastern Chinese city announced multiple innovative breakthroughs at the conference.
PML unveiled the world’s first operating system that features an open network architecture, heterogeneous computing and extensive application scenarios, alongside with top speed and safety performance. In a pilot program, the system has been first applied in the Yangtze River Delta with great results achieved already.
The event also saw the launch of a platform for future network experiments, which aligns with cloud services provided by Alibaba, Tencent, Huawei, AWS, Azure and Google. This will benefit enterprises working in the Internet of Things covering the fields of consumer market, vehicles, energy and other industries.

PML and a research team from Southeast University also released a system of 5G data collection and analysis.
At the event, Wu Binwei, a PML researcher, showcased how data can be processed to make the Internet-connected devices run more smoothly, quickly and accurately. In the demonstration, a robotic vehicle was able to improve the efficiency of completing a transportation task, including the procedure of avoiding obstacles, from minutes to just seconds.
PML has also rolled out the deterministic networking that can effectively address problems affecting transmission of industry information, and allow individual users to access faster and better services.
