A list of ten initiatives to advance the integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta, a national strategy, was announced at the 6th Yangtze River Delta Development Integration High-end Forum held in Wenzhou City, Zhejiang Province on June 6.

The delta region, encompassing Shanghai and the provinces of Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Anhui, is one of China's most economically active, open and innovative regions. The ten initiatives unveiled are as follows,

Improving the railway network across the delta region, with 660 km of lines to be added in 2024.

Establishing a unified infrastructure network for electric vehicle charging and battery swapping. The region will build over 70,000 new charging piles, increasing the total to 600,000, aiming for a vehicle-to-charging pile ratio within 1.9.

Expanding efficient one-stop government service. The region will establish 200 venues capable of processing cross-provincial and one-stop government services.

Enhancing and expanding direct settlements of cross-provincial medical bills.

Promoting integrated elderly care services. The region will enhance mutual recognition of assessment for elderly care institutions, service standards, and professional accreditation for elderly care nursing.

Upgrading and expanding the "one-card-pays-all” system based on the social security card, which will incorporate about 70 services and be accepted in over 3,000 cultural and tourism venues, including libraries, museums, and gyms.

Jointly safeguarding food safety by coordinating supervision efforts and promoting food traceability system.

A unified branding for the region’s cultural and tourism resources. The campaign aims to highlight at least 30 travel routes, featuring high-speed trains, archaeological findings and Chinese civilization.

Cooperation to build “beautiful villages.” The delta region aims to promote cross-provincial travel routes showcasing the charm of villages and supporting rural vitalization.

Implementing the 144-hour visa-free transit policy across the delta region. With valid travel documents and connecting tickets, foreign citizens can be exempted from visa requirements during transit for 144 hours or 6 days when heading to a third nation.
