In the new year, Suzhou will effectively shoulder its responsibility as an economic powerhouse, contribute more to the overall development of the province and the country, and become one of the first to realize the grand vision of Chinese modernization, said Wu Qingwen, deputy head of Suzhou delegation at the "two sessions" of Jiangsu Province.

Suzhou will strengthen innovation-driven development and coordination, and focus on expanding effective investment and new demand. The city plans to invest 1.2 trillion yuan in key projects and complete fixed-asset investment of 630 billion yuan throughout the year. In fully advancing new industrialization, Suzhou will focus on ten industrial clusters and 30 industry chains, including the next-generation information technology, biomedicine, healthcare and new materials, aiming to foster competitive industry leaders. Suzhou will continue to expand high-level opening up, strengthen cooperation with Germany, Japan, the Netherlands, and across the Strait, and organize activities for the 30th anniversary of the Suzhou Industrial Park. The city will support enterprises in expanding markets and winning orders, implement special policies on profit reinvestment and establishment of regional headquarters of foreign-funded enterprise, and promote foreign trade and foreign investment to maintain stability and enhance quality. Suzhou will deepen reforms for market-based allocation of factors of production and digital transformation, becoming a role model in e-governance.

Suzhou will highlight the principle of putting people first in its development. It will conduct visits and research in thousands of villages and enterprises to address pressing difficulties and concerns of the people. It plans to complete 28 projects to improve livelihoods, focusing on the elderly, children, vulnerable groups and living conditions, and also integrate economic growth with cultural endeavors and people’s wellbeing. Efforts will be made to effectively strengthen ecological protection and make new achievements in Taihu Lake renovation.
