Organized by the Foreign Affairs Office of Suzhou Municipal People's Government and Consulate General of Switzerland in Shanghai, the "So Swiss in Suzhou" activity took place at Xi'an Jiaotong-Liverpool University on June 15.
The activity aimed to address global challenges and protect the environment by promoting sustainable architecture and innovations in the health sector.
Suzhou, a cultural city with a history of over 2,500 years, is committed to advancing the preservation and renewal of its ancient city.
During the event, Jürg Burri, Swiss Ambassador to China, said that Suzhou is a very beautiful city and an important investment destination for Swiss companies. He called for both sides to enhance exchange and cooperation while contributing to sustainable development.
The activity included a photo exhibition showcasing winners of Constructive Alps for sustainable renovation and construction in the Alps. This exhibition raised awareness of the positive role architecture plays in environmental protection. It also highlighted Switzerland's sustainable development practices by exploring eco-friendly building solutions in the Alps region.
Experts from Switzerland Tourism, ETH Zurich, Nanjing University and other institutions were invited to exchange ideas on various topics, such as sustainability in the construction industry and healthcare ecosystems.
