After a four-year absence due to COVID-19, the third Jiangsu Development Summit will open on May 20.
In early spring, the organizing committee of the conference published an open letter calling for Jiangsu natives across the world to visit the province and participate in its development.
“Since its inception, the conference aims to build a platform for connection, exchange, cooperation and development among Jiangsu natives at home and abroad based on our shared bond to the region and hometowns in the province,” said Hu Hengsuo, head of secretariat for the conference.
With development at the heart of the meeting, the inaugural session saw 312 deals reached with the province, including 49 related to industrial cooperation in the fields of high-tech, new medicine, new energy, modern agriculture, tourism and finance. During the second session, the province highlighted 126 projects to attract a total investment of more than 450 billion yuan.
As an industrial cooperation project signed at the first session, SK Hynix increased its investment by 60 billion yuan to build a second factory in Wuxi City. After completion in April 2019, the plant became the world's most technologically advanced 10nm-class chip production base also with the largest monthly production capacity and involving the largest investment in the sector. As of March 20 this year, 38 projects agreed upon at the second session have been completed, achieving a cumulative investment of 239.283 billion yuan and $1.13 billion. There are also 30 projects agreed at the second session still under development.

Considering the current and future development trends, the third Jiangsu Development Summit will include a series of activities, such as the Purple Mountain Science and Technology Forum, the Yangtze River Business Summit, and the Jiangsu Cultural Development Forum. The conference will invite guests to share areas of development in emerging fields.
