Prof. Tang Qiyun, an expert in neuroendocrine tumor (NET) at the First Affiliated Hospital of Nanjing Medical University, made a keynote speech at the 20th Annual ENETS Conference in Vienna, Austria on Mar. 24.
ENETS is a pioneering group in international research, collaboration, and education in the NET field. The annual ENETS conference serves as a platform for medical specialists and scientists in the NET field to share the latest research results and improve the diagnosis and therapy.
Prof. Tang Qiyun became the first Chinese NET specialist to make a keynote speech at annual ENETS conference.
NETs are rare cancers that can occur in the cells of the neuroendocrine system. Many patients are only diagnosed after the tumour has spread to other parts of the body. The clinical research in NET requires joint international efforts.
Prof. Tang Qiyun is one of the leading NET researchers in China. Integrating advanced MDT technologies, she took the lead in establishing the Jiangsu Neuroendocrine Tumor Center in 2018, the first NET treatment center in East China.
At the 20th Annual ENETS Conference, she made the keynote speech themed with “Abstract presentation: Heterogeneity and potential therapeutic targets of rectal neuroendocrine tumors by single cell RNA-sequencing combined with spatial omics”, and was highly praised by fellow researchers.
Tang said that though NET research in China started later than in Europe, the clinical research and basic study have been developing rapidly. She hopes that researchers in different countries can work together to boost NET diagnosis and treatment worldwide.
Along with the 20th Annual ENETS Conference in Vienna, experts and researchers from Jiangsu visited Medizinische Universität Wien and its affiliated hospital.
