Suzhou among 10 most attractive cities for foreign experts

For the 11th time, Suzhou City in Jiangsu Province has made it to the list of the top 10 most attractive Chinese cities for foreign experts.

The annual survey sees respondents evaluate Chinese cities according to 52 criteria in five categories such as social environment and living convenience. It also helps understand the concerns and requirements of foreign experts in China.

Suzhou has enhanced innovative efforts to attract foreign talents, optimize the management and services, and create a comfortable environment for expats to engage in innovation or entrepreneurship.

As of June this year, Suzhou had 10,782 foreign talents with valid work permits, accounting for 46% of the total in Jiangsu, and this included 4,502 high-level professionals, 54% of the province’s total.

Suzhou has also relaxed restrictions due to nationality, region or organizational affiliation to become a popular destination for talent from other countries. Since 2011, the city had provided subsidies of over 170 million yuan to more than 1,600 high-end overseas experts.
