Suzhou and Marrakech of Morocco signed an agreement online for sister-city relations on September 29.

Suzhou and Marrakech, both historical and cultural cities, have made fruitful cooperation in the fields of culture, tourism, agriculture and health care since 2012.

Marrakech is one of the four historical capital cities of Morocco, the country's third largest city, the economic and cultural centre of the south region, and capital of Marrakesh-Tensift-Al Haouz. The city is famous for its historical buildings and gardens. The Medina quarter, an ancient habitat in the city, was inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1985.

To date, Suzhou has entered into sister-city ties with 58 cities in foreign countries, leading most cities in China.
