Jiangsu’s key retail businesses reported total sales of 2.309 billion yuan during the 3-day Dragon Boat Festival holiday from June 3 to 5.
Cities in the coastal province introduced various programs to boost consumer economy. After Nanjing issued the second round of shopping vouchers on May 30, transaction amounts of department stores, supermarkets and catering businesses increased by 22.0%, 175.7% and 16.2% respectively compared with one month ago.
Xuzhou City provided a subsidy of 3.4 million yuan to support the auto market. The city’s 21 car dealers achieved sales of 42.4 million yuan during the holiday, a year-on-year increase of 29.92%.
In Lianyungang City, sales of electrical home appliances with Level 1 energy efficiency grade jumped by 36% year on year, and sales of other home appliances and audiovisual equipment sales also increased by 17%.
Jiangsu’s major catering enterprises improved sales through online orders and group buying. Nanjing's 60 key catering enterprises achieved a turnover of 26.88 million yuan, much higher than the same period last year.
