A company located in Nanmachang sub-district in Huai’an City, Jiangsu Province is proud to manufacture the torches for the 2022 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games. 

The torch, named Fei Yang (Flying), features an inner red 'blazing ribbon' that contrasts with the outer one plated in silver. The two-tone torch presents a metaphor of ice and fire. 

In the company's dust-free workshop, technicians were busy attaching the emblem of Beijing 2022 to the torches.  

Qiao Chuang, the project leader, said it’s a great honor to be part of the Winter Olympics. The company has adopted domestically leading technology of 3D braiding to produce the torches beaming with dynamism and vitality. The 3D braided structure will be infused with special resin and then take steps like polishing and painting to finally create the elegant patterns. 

In October 2020, the company was commissioned by the Beijing 2022 organizing committee and Sinopec Shanghai Petrochemical to manufacture the torches. It has delivered the first batch of 1,330 torches. 

Qiao said the next batch of 670 torches for the Paralympic Winter Games will be delivered by the end of January, while the gift version of the torches will be produced in February.
