To curb the spread of COVID-19, Nanjing has strengthened the management of outbound passengers by road trips, with 68 checkpoints set up across the expressway network.
With green health QR code and a negative result of nucleic acid testing, passengers can continue the road trip. But people with red health QR code will be required to take a 14-day medical observation at centralized quarantine stations.
Zeng Celi, a police officer of the Traffic Management Department, Nanjing Public Security Bureau, said the average daily traffic volume on the Shanghai-Nanjing Expressway was reduced from 78,000 vehicles before July 20 to 36,000 on July 24.
"Through joint efforts, we are confident that we can overcome the epidemic," said Sun Zheng with the Transport Bureau of Yuhuatai District.
