During the two sessions, President Xi Jinping took part in a deliberation with lawmakers from Qinghai Province, joined a group meeting with political advisors from education, medical and health sectors, and attended a plenary meeting of the delegation of the People's Liberation Army and People's Armed Police Force.
To study the spirits of President Xi’s important speeches, the Jiangsu delegation of the fourth session of the 13th National People's Congress held a plenary meeting on March 10. Lou Qinjian, secretary of the CPC Jiangsu Provincial Committee and chairman of the Standing Committee of Jiangsu People’s Congress, presided over the meeting and delivered a speech.
Lou said President Xi’s speeches grasp the laws governing economic and social development, address the key concerns in the modernization drive, highlight the people-centered approach, and play a vital role in guiding the efforts at the start of the 14th Five-Year Plan.
Lou stressed the need to deeply study and understand President Xi’s speeches on the promotion of high-quality development and make efforts to shoulder the responsibility and become a role model. High-quality development is a general requirement for all aspects of economic and social development, including ecological protection, workplace safety and other areas. It’s important to adhere to the new development concept and improve the development quality and efficiency. Jiangsu should start from its own development condition, further improve its strengths and make up for the weaknesses, and blaze a path of high-quality development suitable for the province.
With a deep study of President Xi’s remarks on developing education and promoting people's well-being, Jiangsu should let its people live a modern and high-quality life. Efforts should be made to increase investment in health care and education, solve the outstanding problems, and better meet the needs of education and healthcare. The province should take the national lead in innovative practices and make a greater contribution to the country’s overall achievements.
Lou also noted Jiangsu will improve efforts to study the Party's history, understand its theories, do practical work and make new advances. These efforts will be transformed to help solve main development problems, achieve high quality, build consensus to embark on a new journey to fully build a modern socialist China. The province will also support the progress of women's cause and encourage women to play more important roles in the country’s development.
