Jiangsu held the international communication work conference in Nanjing on January 19 to review the progress in last year, analyze the current situation and make new plans for this year.
Under the guide of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, the meeting studied the spirit of a recent conference in Beijing attended by top publicity official from provincial-level regions.
In overcoming the huge challenges of COVID-19 via united, coordinated and proactive efforts in last year, the province’s international communication work focused on the main theme of building a well-off society at a high level, effectively aligned with the country’s international communication campaigns, and supported the major work of the CPC Jiangsu Provincial Committee and the provincial government, fulfilling the mission to tell Jiangsu’s stories and convey its voices.
In 2021, Jiangsu’s international communication work will focus on the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the founding of the CPC and feature topics related to the good start of the 14th Five-Year Plan period. Integrated efforts will be made to reinvent and renovate the communication, promote Jiangsu’s practices, stories and culture to the world in order to vividly reflect China’s development path, institutional advantages, values and contributions, and also help the world better understand the CPC, state leaders, the country and its people. Such efforts will also help international communities become aware of the coastal province’s development goal towards “strong economy, rich people, beautiful environment and a high degree of social civilization”.
Jiangsu will launch a five-pronged strategy in the international communication. The priority is to publicize Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era and tell well the province’s stories about high-quality development, deepening reform and opening-up, win-win cooperation, and people realizing their dreams. Ready to play an active role in the country’s international communication programs, Jiangsu will introduce its regional art and culture to reach the global audience. The province will highlight its unique cultural resources related to the Belt and Road, Yangtze River, Grand Canal, and Jiangnan area. Efforts will also be made to improve the regular press conference as well as timely information release for breaking news and hot issues. Another priority is to spread the peace-centered message in international communication and let more foreigners, young people and experts understand China's commitment to peaceful development.
Participants to the meeting included officials in charge of international communication at the publicity department of CPC communities in cities and heads of local bureaus of central media outlets and the province’s major media organizations.
