The Jiangsu Provincial Department of Public Security held a solemn police flag-raising ceremony to mark the first Chinese People's Police Day on January 10, corresponding with the country's emergency call number of 110.

A formation of police including members of the department’s CPC committee and representatives of model police officers marched during the ceremony. Participating police saluted to the flag as it was escorted and hoisted by three flag raisers – Dong Zhaokun, Yang Shuaitao and Ma Zhijiang, who are all from the special service unit of the department.

"In the  flag-raising ceremony, all I thought of was to make sure we marched consistently, “ said Dong, who added that he felt honored to be part of the ceremony on the first Police Day.

The decision on the introduction of this festival was approved in July last year by the Chinese central authorities in recognition of the extraordinary work of the country's public security guardians. In the ceremony, police officers also reviewed their vows of joining the police. The Jiangsu Provincial Department of Public Security also held a press conference to introduce its work in 2020.
