The 19th meeting of the Standing Committee of the 13th Jiangsu People’s Congress, the province’s legislature, passed a resolution on November 27 to confer the title of "Honorary Resident of Jiangsu Province" to 10 expats.
The winners were SK Group chairman Chey Tae-won, AstraZeneca’s CEO Pascal Soriot, Artem Semenov, vice president of Council for Local Cooperation of Russia-China Friendship Committee for Peace and Development, Uwe Kirchgaessner, president of BASF-YPC, and Tim Dillon, former Victorian government commissioner to Greater China. They also included Stjepan Kucifer, managing director MAN Energy Solutions, Feng Ciang, president of Suzhou Industrial Technology Research Institute, Professor Keith William Hipel of University of Waterloo, Rahachou Aliaksandr of Francisk Skorina Gomel State University in Belarus, and Charles Jeremy Brown, technical director of Hengtong Marine Optical Cable.
They have won the honor for making significant achievements in their respective fields of economics, education, science and technology, and also contributing to Jiangsu's efforts to develop the open economy as well as international exchanges in trade and culture. Some winners were also recognized for offering help in the fight against the pandemic.
