The Ministry of Ecology and Environment recently announced the fourth batch of cities and counties selected for a pilot program of ecological civilization, among which six are in Jiangsu Province.
The six winners are Taizhou City, Huishan District and Binhu District both in Wuxi City, Yixing City, Kunshan City, and Taicang City.
The selection takes consideration of ecological performance in six aspects -administration, safety, space, economy, livelihood and culture. The winning regions will actively explore ways to transform their advantages of good natural environment into sustainable economic growth, improve public services, and improve people’s life.
China attaches great importance to ecological conservation and environmental protection, as summarized by the tagline “lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets.” Liyang City and Yandu District in Yancheng City were on the ministry’s latest list of 35 new regions recognized for innovative practices in line with the guideline.
