A delegation of medical experts sent by the Chinese government to help fight COVID-19 in Venezuela returned by plane at Nanjing Lukou International Airport on April 13.
After a brief welcome ceremony, the delegation of eight members moved to a facility for concentrated quarantine, where they will also recover from the stress.
Entrusted by Lou Qinjian, secretary of the CPC Jiangsu Committee and the provincial governor Wu Zhenglong, vice governor Chen Xingying led a team to greet and paid tribute to the returned delegation at the airport.
Huang Mao, head of the delegation and also director of the Department of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine of Jiangsu People's Hospital, gave a concise report.
The team, organized by the National Health Commission, consisted of eight experts selected by the Jiangsu Health Commission and left the Nanjing airport for Venezuela on March 29.
The delegation comprised specialists in infectious diseases, intensive care, laboratory testing, nursing and traditional Chinese medicine from Jiangsu People’s Hospital, Jiangsu Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Jiangsu Center for Disease Control and Prevention, the First Affiliated Hospital of Soochow University and the Nanjing Gulou Hospital.
While in Venezuela, the team held more than 10 meetings with various governmental departments and the Chinese Embassy in Venezuela, holding in-depth discussions and exchanges on COVID-19 prevention and control measures, management of people under isolation, patient’s treatment and care.
