Jiangsu will accelerate efforts to develop new infrastructure projects, which refer to digital facilities such as 5G base stations, big data centers, artificial intelligence and industrial internet.

Among the planned mega projects for this year in Jiangsu, over 20 percent are centered on new infrastructure and they account for 30 percent of the yearly investment, said Wang Xiandong, deputy director of Jiangsu Development and Reform Commission.

Jiangsu is making smooth progress to promote the new infrastructure projects, some of which aim to achieve technological, homegrown breakthroughs and some will boost the rise of strategic emerging industries.

Projects in the new infrastructure category also focus on filling in the gap in development and improving people’s livelihood. Cities including Nanjing, Suzhou, Wuxi, Xuzhou, Nantong and Changzhou have ramped up efforts to expand rail-transit system, build key projects in the national railway network, and improve the transport system in northern Jiangsu. The province is also planning to launch ten transport projects including a railway along the northern bank of Yangtze River, the Shanghai-Suzhou-Huzhou railway, and the Nanjing-Xuancheng intercity railway. Amid such efforts, Jiangsu is certainly to develop an efficient, integrated transport system for its high-quality growth.
