Jiangsu moves to ensure victory in two-front battle

The Standing Committee of the CPC Jiangsu Committee held a meeting on March 26 to further implement the spirit of important speeches by President Xi Jinping, discuss the key tasks in combating the COVID-19 outbreak and bolstering economic and social development, and also outline the plans for the next stage.

Lou Qinjian, secretary of the CPC Jiangsu Committee, chaired the meeting and delivered a speech. He emphasized the need to ensure progress in the COVID-19 prevention and control, called for more determined efforts and full confidence to promote high-quality development, and strive to secure the victory in the two-front battle.

The spread of the novel coronavirus inside China has been essentially curbed, Jiangsu has made a steady progress in combating the epidemic, but it’s important to have a clear mind of the risks of COVID-19 cases imported from abroad, according to the meeting. Jiangsu still needs to go all out to prevent and control the outbreak and also bring life and business back to normal fully so some restrictions will not be lifted totally.

Priorities will be given to efforts at the border checkpoints, residential communities and medical institutes and such efforts need to be precise and rigorous. Jiangsu will step up prevention of imported cases by land and water, impose strict checks, improve coordination across departments, increase data sharing and health response to inbound passengers, effectively identify passengers from high-risk areas, and implement well-targeted measures. Efforts will be increased to establish a strong COVID-19 response system at the community level through the integrated use of Big Data, ‘grid management’ system and visits.

Jiangsu will ensure efforts to treat imported COVID-19 cases, improve management of patients before they are discharged from the hospital, increase coordination among designated hospitals, rehabilitation institutes and center for disease control and prevention, and put into place the measures specially for medical workers sent to assist the fight in Hubei. Jiangsu will also fully support the epidemic prevention and control in Beijing and Shanghai, guarantee progress in the province itself, and offer relevant support.
