The Nanjing government revealed a plan to provide online novel coronavirus (COVID-19) diagnosis and treatment service as assistance to its international sister cities at a press conference in March 16.
The city also announced that the epidemic prevention and control measures have been optimized for key targeted populations and areas in the city.
Huangfu Zhaohui, deputy director of the Foreign Affairs Office of the Nanjing Government, said that Nanjing has specially established a workgroup to deal with foreign-related work and guide foreigner to actively cooperate with the implementation of prevention and control regulations. Foreigners who do not understand Chinese and are now outside China can dial the 24-hour multilingual hotline service for help in solving their problems.
After the epidemic outbreak, many foreign students in Nanjing chose to stay in the city and contributed to the fight against COVID-19. Nanjing’s international friendship cities as well as caring people have also expressed concern and reached out to help. The city has offered urgent humanitarian assistance to overseas people affected by the virus. The city recently donated 2,000 sets of protective suits, 50,000 face masks, and an AI-based CT diagnosis and treatment system to Daejeon, South Korea.
In addition to using the internet to help its international sister cities deal with diagnosis and treatment of COVID-19, Nanjing also intends to share its experience in the prevention and control with the affected countries through its sister-city network.
