“Wear a surgical mask, seek medical advice promptly and inform doctor of travel details……” Illustrated notices can be recently spotted at Somerset Apartment of Youth Olympic Community, Shuangzha street, Jianye District of Nanjing. These bilingual guidelines are to enhance the epidemic prevention of pneumonia caused by the novel coronavirus across the community.
By January 2020, approximately 160 foreign residents have settled in Somerset Apartment, Youth Olympic Community, and more than 30 stay in Nanjing during the Spring Festival holiday. In the face of the epidemic outbreak, the Youth Olympic Community, one of the first communities for international community construction in Nanjing, develops immediate links with multiple parties to ensure foreigners in Nanjing are well informed and to raise their awareness of effective prevention.
"On the evening of Spring Festival Eve, the street community conveyed the authoritative information to Somerset and then to every foreigner there," said Dai Chao, director of the Youth Olympic Community. Since the implementation of the epidemic prevention and control in Jianye District, the Youth Olympic Community, together with Somerset, has established a communication mechanism that provides reports twice a day and timely information sharing. Key measures for epidemic prevention and control were translated into English and accessible to everyone. In addition, daily monitoring, personnel screening, and temperature checking are also conducted in the community.
"We came to ask if it is appropriate to go back to Thailand at this moment. We feel much relieved after talking to them,” said a foreign couple who just finished consultation with the community staff.
