Passengers entering China from the Nanjing Lukou International Airport may have found that their checked-in baggage were sometimes marked by Nanjing Customs, part of measures taken to improve customs clearance and shorten tourist’s time of entry.
In this new approach, checked-in baggage after disembarking from an airline flight will undergo the X-ray examination, a painless and non-invasive procedure, before being transported to the baggage carousel for passengers to reclaim. During this check, the baggage with suspicious items inside will be marked out with yellow tape and lock. After collecting the baggage, owners can make customs declarations or open the baggage for further checks by an officer.
Meanwhile, passengers with baggage unmarked in this new process can quickly exit from the airport terminal.
