In 2024, Jiangsu saw 1.017 million new energy vehicles (NEVs) newly registered, bringing the total number of NEVs on the road to 2.691 million, according to the province’s Department of Industry and Information Technology.

Jiangsu's NEV production comprised 55.7% of its total automobile production, 14.5 percentage points higher than the national average. In 2024, the province's NEV production and sales reached 1.226 million and 1.28 million vehicles respectively, representing year-on-year increases of 17.1% and 23.7%.

In the field of hydrogen fuel cell vehicles, the province has gathered more than 140 key enterprises, establishing a nearly complete industrial chain that includes stack systems, whole vehicle manufacturing, and hydrogen production, storage, and transportation.
